WHAT CAN AND CAN'T GO INTO A SKIP BIN

The identification of your waste type is normally fairly straight forward. However, it is very important that you choose the correct category as certain waste types are prohibited from being loaded into skip bins and may result in additional charges after the bin has been collected.

The table below provides some guidelines but if you are in any doubt at all, please feel free to contact South West Skips and one of our friendly staff members will be only to happy to assist you.

General Waste (includes Household Waste)
This bin has a weight restriction of 150kg per cubic meter of bin, extra weight is an additional charge

What you can put into the Skip Bin

  • Household waste e.g. Clothes, toys, paper, cardboard, kitchen ware etc..
  • Light commercial waste e.g. office furniture, stationary etc...
  • Light building construction waste.
  • Furniture & appliances e.g. Cupboards, lounges, fridges, washing machines etc...
  • Light Green waste e.g. Shrubs, grass clippings, twigs etc...

What IS NOT TO BE PLACED INTO THE BIN

  • Hard Heavy materials
  • NO Bricks, Tiles, Rocks, Sand, Soil, Clay or Tiles
  • NO Soil or soil with Turf attached.
  • NO Palm tree trunks, tree trunks, roots or turf.
  • NO synthetic grass,
  • NO Carpet contact us 1300 246 779 to arrange carpet removal
  • NO Hazardous materials. e.g. Asbestos, insulation, liquids, empty or dry chemical containers, food, wet paint, putrescible waste
  • NO FOOD WASTE
  • NO LIQUIDS or WET WASTE
  • NO PAINT (in either dry or wet format)

If any of the above items are located in your bin, the bin will be returned to your premises.

Mixed Heavy Waste (including Building and Construction Waste)

What you can put into the Skip Bin

  • Waste from domestic or commercial demolition, construction, renovation etc…
  • Treated timber like retaining walls, decking and floorboards etc…
  • Hardfill Waste e.g. Bricks, tiles concrete (pieces no larger than 600 x 600)
  • Household waste e.g. clothes, toys, paper, kitchen ware etc…
  • Furniture and Appliances e.g. cupboards, lounges, whitegoods, etc…
  • Green waste e.g. Shrubs, grass clippings, twigs, palm trees etc…
  • Tree trunks smaller than 150mm in diameter and under 300mm long.
  • Metal/Steel

What you can't put into the Skip Bin

  • Tree trunks larger than 150mm in diameter and over 300mm long.
  • No synthetic grass
  • Hazardous materials. E.g. Asbestos, Insulation, liquids, empty chemical containers, food, wet paint tins, putrescible etc…
  • NO Carpet contact us 1300 246 779 to arrange carpet removal
    • NO FOOD WASTE
    • NO LIQUIDS or WET WASTE
    • NO PAINT (in either dry or wet format)
    • NO WET concrete, slurry or glue material.

Brick and Concrete

What you can put into the Skip Bin

  • Bricks and/or Bricks and mortar or
  • Concrete (no bigger than 600x600) or
  • Roof tiles or
  • Floor tiles.

What you can't put into the Skip Bin

  • Nothing else at all

Dirt and Clay

  • Dirt and Clay only

What you can't put into the Skip Bin

  • Nothing else at all

Green Waste
This bin has a weight restriction of 150kg per cubic meter of bin, extra weight is an additional charge

What you can put into the Skip Bin

  • Light green waste e.g. Shrubs, grass clippings, twigs etc…
  • Small branches, leaves & palm fronds etc…
  • Woodchip & bark with NO soil attached.
  • Tree trunks smaller than 150mm in diameter and under 500mm long.
  • Untreated timber.

What you can't put into the Skip Bin

  • Brick, soil, concrete, tiles, dirt, sand/stone, rocks, pebbles etc…
  • Palm tree trunks & large tree roots etc…
  • Tree trunks larger than 150mm in diameter or over 500mm long.
  • Hazardous materials e.g. Asbestos, insulation, liquids, empty chemical containers, food, wet paint tins etc…

  • Steel

What you can't put into the Skip Bin

  • NO OTHER WASTE, RUBBISH, MATERIALS WHAT SO EVER
